El Tee launches her new single 'Too Afraid To Ask For Love', following her September single, 'Baby' - the first songs since the release of her debut album. Joining El Tee is special guests Bec Sykes.
Californian-Melbournian artist El Tee has been building a devoted following amongst Melbourne’s thriving music scene since 2018. The indie-folk artist writes songs about grief and love and loss, juxtaposing her dark-mood lyrics with unassuming softness and much-welcomed intimacy. After a 4 year hiatus from releasing music, El Tee delivered the track, ‘Baby’ in September, recounting a smooth prosecution of a modern dating set piece: self-sabotage as a tactic to avoid vulnerability. Only 10-weeks later, El Tee will release a second heart-wrenching single, ‘Too Afraid To Ask For Love’.
El Tee released her debut album, ‘Everything Is Fine’ in 2020, receiving critical acclaim, and celebrated with a sold out album launch. The album topped Australian community radio charts, garnered spins on triple J, and received feature album on several radio and media sources including 2ser and NME. Soon after, El Tee embarked on her first headline tour and was nominated for the Music Victoria Award for Best Rock Act 2021.
El Tee has been compared to the likes of Angel Olsen and Sharon Van Etten. Often backed by a four-piece band, El Tee has supported artists such as Blake Scott, Ryan Downey, Clea, Alice Skye, and Freya Josephine Hollick and has graced lineups alongside artists such as Julia Jacklin, Good Morning, and Elizabeth. Playing various local notable gigs and festivals such as Delivered Live, the Instagram live Isol-Aid Festival, Music That Matters Bushfire Benefit and Leaps and Bounds Music Festival, El Tee has been steadily gathering a wake of dedicated music lovers in tow.
