The one-man-band looping machine that is GREAT EARTHQUAKE, returns to launch his brand new album 'Thinking & Making' on Saturday June 9th at The Grace Darling with very special guests: ON DIAMOND + BABY BLUE DUO.

Described recently by Weirdo Wasteland's Doug Wallen as, 'a mercurial one-man-band wrangling miniature whirlwinds of itchy indie pop'. Thinking & Making is unhurried and mediative and further investigates Great Earthquake's (AKA Noah Symons, Drummer with Last Leaves ) recent dalliances with lyric repetition as an added texture in his layered, largely instrumental post-rock.

Last year in November a friendly group of Dingos visited the Grace Darling Hotel in Collingwood and put on an absolute beauty of a show, raising over $4,500 for The Purple House in the process. Close to half a year later and those very same Dingos are back in town, this time with the purpose of sending a GREAT BIG DINGO WELCOME to the precious people seeking asylum in this beautiful place we call home.

With the Australian government currently cutting lifesaving support services to 15,000 people seeking asylum (booo!), the Dingos have seen it as their duty to put their furry little heads together and bring together another irresistible lineup of musicians, DJs and visual artists, in order to raise much needed funds for Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC).

Treating our eyes and ears on this very special occasion are:

Jennifer Loveless

SHROUD. Meat, riffs and potatoes. Does more need to be said? Probably not... For a time SHROUD was incomplete, like a three wheeled car, or a pack rollies with no papers. Lumbering on with no voice, just raw thumps and untamed feedback. Then not too long ago, for reasons only the universe understands, the final member of Shroud was drawn to her destiny.

SHROUD was born, metamorphosing from simple garden tool objects into something new, something strange, something primal - emanating a rare pulse. To rejoice in this awkward, but special transformation, SHROUD welcomes you to The Grace Darling Hotel Basement to help launch ‘Slow Demise’, the first song from their five song sacrifice to the gods.

Joining them for the night will be: PSEUDO MIND HIVE (Melbourne psych) + DOWSER (Three piece Stoner/Doom)

Castilles ‘Get Along’ Single Launch

Doors Open: 8pm

CASTILLES comprises the cream of the crop of Melbourne’s highly competitive, inner North underground rock scene. The electric three-piece blast, fumble, and soar their way through an eclectic set of rock and roll. 'Get Along' guides the listener through an incessant pulse, begging the riff to loop eternal. An ode to blues, desert rock & psychedelica 'Get Along' is a reminder that what was never broken never needs to be fixed.

Joining them will be fellow Purple Wayne residents, COPE & DRAG. It’s alt country, it’s bluesy, it’s poppy, and we like it. Arrive early to see Nico and his bandits get down.

HOBSONS BAY COAST GUARD are a band we caught supporting a Zoe Fox and the Rocket Clocks show. We dug their vibe and have kept an eye on them ever since. We’re so stoked to have them on the ticket. #trashsurfglitzrock

It’s going to be a fine night indeed.

Come splash your cash and revel in the EOFY celebrations with CAPITAL GAINS in what will be their final show of 2018. Since forming early last year the band has blasted its version of art-punk-rock through venues across Melbourne and, after cobbling together enough ‘quality’ tunes, self-recorded and released its debut EP 'Foster'. Now, with a second EP fresh in the can the band is putting on one last hurrah before chief singer/songwriter Seb Cunningham heads off for six months on a journey of self-discovery. Things may never be the same again.

Joining CAPITAL GAINS on the night are local stalwarts HEARTS AND ROCKETS and, in what will be their first show in some time, HOOPER CRESCENT.
